Siriporn wins decision over Ebata in defense of title

PHNOM PENH , April 26 KYODO

Thai boxer Samson Sor Siriporn successfully defended her WBC junior flyweight crown by decision over Japanese challenger Kayoko Ebata on Saturday. The pair exchanged blows in an exciting bout throughout the 10-rounder but the Thai champion's technique eventually prevailed over her Japanese opponent in a 2-0 victory. One judge scored the match even at 95-95. The bout was the first world title bout by a Japanese woman since the Japan Boxing Commission sanctioned women's professional boxing last November.
Um You Ran, president of Cambodian Boxing Federation said it was the first time for Cambodia to host such international boxing event with WBC title.
